This work only exists because people show up.
Green Bean Collective is not a service you consume — it’s a community you can be a part of. There are many ways to get involved, depending on your time, energy, and interests.
Volunteer With Our Programs
Volunteers make everything possible. You can help with:
- fruit harvesting and food redistribution
- community fridge and pantry set-up & stewardship
- gardens, seed sharing, and growing projects
- logistics, coordination, and behind-the-scenes support
Whether you can help once a season or once a week, your contribution matters.
Events, Workshops & Gatherings
We host and support events that bring people together around food, skills, and shared learning, including:
- seed, seedling, and other types of swap meets
- gardening and food-related workshops
- skill-sharing gatherings
- crafting, making, cooking, baking, singing, talking, and other get-togethers
These are spaces to learn, connect, and remember that community building can be joyful.
Advocacy & Community Voice
We believe that food insecurity and food waste are not individual failures — they are systemic problems. Part of our work includes:
- advocating for livable wages and social supports
- amplifying community voices
- supporting policies and practices that prioritize care, access, and sustainability

Change happens when people speak up together.
We are so grateful to be included in the network of Good Food Organizations accross Canada, in alliance with Right To Food.
Magic Beans: a Reciprocity Network
Magic Beans are used within our online platform, Bean Trellis, for exchanging time, skills, and care — not money. It recognizes that everyone has something to offer, and everyone needs help sometimes.
This network strengthens all our projects by centering mutual aid, dignity, and shared responsibility.
If you’ve been looking for a way to contribute that actually feels meaningful, reciprocal, and community driven — this is it.
